This example simulates the identical structure as in the previous example. This time, however, the four atoms are shifted by the vector (-0.3,-0.2) in real space. The left image shows the original crystal from the previous example, the right image shows the new crystal. Click on the pictures to get a full screen version.

The following two pictures show the intensity distribution in reciprocal space. Inspection shows, that they are identical in both cases:

A shift in direct space does not change the geometry of the intensity distribution in reciprocal space. The origin of the reciprocal lattice is not fixed to the origin in direct space. Later on we will look at the effects of the shift on the complex amplitude and the phase angle.
